How does publishing with BoD work?
Answer:
There are only three simple steps towards your own book. It starts with the decision whether you want to design your book yourself or if you want our book professionals to handle everything for you. If you choose the former, you just deliver the finished PDF file to us – preferably via direct file upload on myBoD or on a standard data storage medium. If you require professional support, we will be pleased to handle book design, editing, and all technical details for you. As a second step you will receive a free ISBN from us, and BoD will create digital camera-ready copy for you in no time at all. After you have released your work, we will list it in the wholesaler catalogues, which are crucially important for booksellers. Your book will then be available in all German-language bookstores and more than 1,000 online bookstores, plus in the most important English-language book markets as well as at amazon.com and amazon.co.uk (this does not apply to BoD Fun, where you will sell your book only via the BoD Shop – if you wish). Finally, we will support you with extensive advertising and publicity services so your book becomes really successful. By dealing with booksellers about everything that needs to be taken care of we make sure your book will find its way to the reader. You don’t have to bother about anything.
How quickly will the book be finished?
Answer:
After we have received your manuscript as camera-ready copy, we will generate the digital master for you. Unless there are elaborate corrections to be made in your manuscript, it only takes four to six weeks until you can hold your book in your hands. Once you have released your book, you can order it directly. After about two weeks it can be ordered from Internet bookstores (libri.de, amazon.de, amazon.com, amazon.co.uk), and after about six to eight weeks, through the German Books in Print (BIP). It will only take four to five days until your book is shipped to the customer.
What if I want to add corrections after the fact?
Answer:
Corrections always mean that your camera-ready copy has to be revised, and they involve additional expenses for you. Therefore you should deliver camera-ready copy to us that is ready for printing.
