Each alternative guarantees the correct arrangement of the preliminary pages, the correct leading (line space), a genuine book typeface, and a successful layout of the type area – in other words, everything that makes for good readability and gives a book a professional appearance.

Novel/Biography (A)

Body typeface: Garamond 12 pt, paragraphs indented

Headings: Garamond 16 pt, bold, flush left, raised initial at the beginning of chapters

Poetry (B)

Body typeface: Meridien 11 pt, paragraphs indented

Headings: Meridien 16 pt, italics, centred

Mystery / Short fiction (C)

Body typeface: Minion 11 pt, paragraphs indented

Headings: Minion 14 pt, centred, chapter openings lowered

Nonfiction/Science (D)

Body typeface: Gill Sans 11 pt, paragraphs flush left

Headings: Gill Sans 14 pt, semi-bold, flush left
